You know that MUM was the highlight of Google’s Search On event, where the company announced many changes to the search results for marketers to understand. Some changes include launching more visually and related browsable search results for some queries, enhancements to the resulting feature, and more of a shippable Google search interface.
Online browsing with bigger images
Google has added something new to visually browsable features for some search results pages. You can now see them for some searches with a keyword and the term idea afterward. It is like painting ideas, where Google said the interface makes browsing easier and seeing what you are looking for. With the launch earlier this week, Google calls this bigger image blocks the image universal blocks. It will not only show for some related queries but it can be shown for apparel queries.
Result enhancements
Google haunched the result box in February 2021 and July, where details like ranking information are added. Google is now showing more information in the About This result box, where additions include the source’s information about themselves, pulled from places like the site’s About Us page. It can now show some web results about the page or site, as others say about the result and related results about the topic from other sites.
It is known that Google cannot control what information is shared from the related results or what others say about it. The search engine uses some undisclosed queries to look for the information, and only sites that will meet the quality bar can show up in the part of the About this result box. Google said it would focus on the abuse or manipulation of these features, but there is no way to tell Google whether the information in the box is incorrect and must be removed. You can use the submit feedback button, but sometimes, it needs to be clarified how Google will react to some requests. Google said that this result feature has been used hundreds of millions of times, and it translates to a small part of searchers.
Shopping at home
Google is now adding some in-store inventory to ensure the online at-home shopping experience feels more like in-person shopping at a specific store. Google said that people like to experience in-person shopping from home, where you can filter the results using an in-stock filter to see whether any stores have certain items on their shelves.
Shopping Search
Google has made the search experience more valuable for apparel queries. It is a new experience that makes checking for apparel on your phone from your search results more accessible. Google’s example is when you are looking for cropped jackets, as the Google search will show some feeds of jackets in different styles and colors, along with other helpful information like style videos, guides, and local shops. It is powered by the Google Shopping Graph, which was announced at Google earlier this year.
Buying with Google lens
A Google app user on iOS will have a new button that makes all the images on a page searchable using Google Lens. It is a type of feature that will arrive soon but is planned only for users in the U.S. It has the same function as it will arrive on Chrome for desktops. You can choose video, images, or text on a site to look at the search results in the same tab. Compared to the iOS version of the feature, Lens in Chrome can be available in a few months.
